Visit the Stratford Connecticut Rotary Club and you will immediately feel the vibrancy in the air. This is a group of Rotarians that clearly enjoys the company of each other and knows how to have fun. They party on the beach; take road trips with each to Mohegan Sun, playfully rib each other during happy bucks and will rib each other at Rib Night (shameless plug) on Nov 16th.
President Bill O’Brien always has a contagious smile on his face, unless scoundrels are placing signs illegally around Stratford. Bill is an organized leader with the gift of inspiration. One could argue that it is easy to look this good when being surrounded by this great group of Stratford Rotarians and certainly there is some truth in that. Bill took over from Immediate Past President Chris Pia who did a bang-up job last year, which included inducting and retaining 5 new members.
The Stratford Rotary Club is a very active mid-sized club of 42 with aspirations to grow to 50 members. Some of their fundraisers and activities include:
- Annual Carnival
- Pancake Breakfast
- Annual Paper Shredding Event
- Dictionary Project (3rd Graders)
- Thesaurus Project (5th Graders)….quick what’s another name for Thesaurus?
- Provided a hot dog lunch for the kids at the South End Community Center’s annual Bike Rodeo
- Rotary Par 3 Shotgun Golf Tournament
They maintain an active Facebook page that is worth LIKING <click here>
They meet for lunch on Tuesdays at the Oronoque Country Club @ 385 Oronoque Lane, Stratford, CT in a room that overlooks a well manicured Golf Course.
