Tribury Rotary Club to Hold Tenth Annual Art Show

The 10th Annual Art Show, Sale & Silent Auction will be held at the Southbury Public Library at 100 Poverty Road, Southbury, CT beginning on Saturday, June 14, 2014 and ending Saturday, June 28, 2014. All funds raised from the event will be collected by the Not – For – Profit Tribury Rotary Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 corporation and used to support philanthropic efforts including scholarships, literacy, youth leadership and support for the food and fuel banks in the towns of Woodbury, Southbury & Middlebury.

All participating artists, members of the Rotary and the public are invited to attend the Artist’s Reception on Monday, June 16th at the Southbury Public Library from 6pm to 8pm. The reception is free and will provide all attendees an opportunity to see the art, meet the artists and participate in the silent auction.

The Tribury Rotary Club has been active since 1972 and some of the Club’s accomplishments include donating over$130,000 in student scholarships, hosting the Annual Art Show, sale of over 51,000 dozen roses, sponsoring the Interact Club at Pomperaug High School (Region 15) and Cottage 28 at the Southbury Training School, planted 280 Elm Trees in the Tribury Area, and provided funding for the local food and fuel banks as well as hurricane relief.

Rotary International has over 1.2 million members in more than 34,000 clubs worldwide. Members volunteer in communities at home and abroad to support education and job training, provide clean water, combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, and eradicate polio.

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster high ethical standards in business and professions as well as the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

RI Recognizes 10 District 7980 Clubs for their Membership Results

For the very first time Rotary International has identified all of the clubs in our district that have achieved the award thresholds for the Membership Development and Extension Award and the Smaller Club Growth Award.

North Branford Rotarian Cheryl Smith was honored tonight with a Paul Harris plus 3 sapphires (PH+3) recognition pin at the Club’s weekly meeting. PH+3 is actually a 4th level recognition for the outstanding efforts and generous donations which Cheryl has made to the Rotary Foundation.

The  Club also received their Significant Achievement Award for achieving their goals from the District tonight amongst great fanfare.  For a small Club, the North Branford Rotary is always extremely active in the community and internationally.

North Branford Rotary meets each Wednesday evening at the new Nataz’s, which is an excellent restaurant and meeting place.

The Club is the ‘Home Club’ to incoming DG Mukund Nori and is hosting the District 7980 Installation dinner on 6/24.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) held @ Camp Hazen in Chester

42 Young Adults from all over our district attended RYLA this weekend at Camp Hazen in Chester.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership development program run by our district. While participants can be any age, our typically events focus on High School students. RYLA events are typically 3 days long and include presentations, activities, and workshops that cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Leadership fundamentals and ethics
  • Communication skills
  • Problem solving and conflict management
  • Community and global citizenship

 

 

 

D7980 continues to add new members

Three of our D7980 Rotary Clubs, Wallingford, Ridgefield and Westport Sunrise, have added a total of 5 new members within the past week.

Through the end of April our district has added net 44 new members since July 1st plus these 5 new Rotarians bring us up to net 49.

Congratulations to the Wallingford, Ridgefield and Westport Sunrise Rotary Clubs for their commitment to membership through the pursuit of recruiting top quality new Rotarians.

This DG (and soon to be PDG) is always will willing to come induct members at any of our 61 Rotary Clubs.
