Inbound Youth Exchange Picnic in Monroe 09-08-2013

The Monroe Rotary Club hosted a nice picnic for the D7980 Inbound Exchange Students today at the YMCA facility in Monroe. The picnic was attended by the Inbound Youth Exchange Students, District Youth Services Leadership and many of the Host Families. Host families provide room and board and share their lives with exchange students, involving them in family, community, and cultural activities.

Rotary Youth Exchange is the opportunity of a lifetime for the more than 8,000 students who participate each year. By sharing our culture and helping students to embracing a new one, we help foster global understanding.

It was a very nice day for a picnic as the food, weather and company were perfect.

Attention Clubs: Sue Horton wants to remind you that the deadline for Outbound Youth Exchange is quickly coming approaching. Contact Sue for more details.

Rotary D7980 Youth Exchange Banquet

The D7980 Youth Exchange (YE) Banquet was held at the Graduate Club in New Haven this evening to recognize the 7 current 2012-13 inbound YE students that will return to their countries in July and the 10 2013-14 outbound YE students which will be sent from our district in August.

Delores Morgano, East Hampton, introduced the Inbounds and PAG Susan Horton, Trumbull, introduced the Outbounds with their family members.

DG Brian Amey provided some inspirational words while simultaneously inquiring about the status of the England/Brazil soccer match.  PDG Alan Hurst was recognized by the  YE students for his service. Glenn Pearson thanked his host family.

A very nice event for the YE participants, their families and the clubs that sponsor them.
