- Westport Rotary Inducts (3) New Members on -7-23-2013
- President Tony Riggio – the hammer is mightier than the gavel
- President Elect Steve Lewine is the main (Maine) Lobster Guy
President Tony Riggio kicked off the year by inducting 3 new members into the Westport Rotary Club today during a club assembly. PDG Rick Benson did the honors of swearing the members in while I played ‘Pin Girl’, a task that I enjoyed and I am happy to report that I didn’t draw any new member blood.
The club assembly focused on President Riggio’s goals for the year which include:
- Resolve the Meeting venue issue
- Fundraising: Lobster Fest, Golf and winter event. Total of 3 fundraisers, build on last year’s successful Lobster event
- Evaluate fundraising to add value to sponsorship
- Westport Emergency Response team
- Partner projects with our 3 other local Rotary’s: Sunrise, Norwalk, Wilton
- Continued participation & exploration of International projects
There was also a fair amount of discussion around the Lobster Fest which will be held on Sept 21, 2013 at Compo Beach (click here for more information)
The club is on the move for now as they evaluate potential meeting spots, so its best to confirm meeting locations in the short-term while visiting. I was lucky that AG John Hendrickson was able to get me straightened out.
The Westport Rotary Club will be 90 years old in March and has 78 members. You can find them on Facebook
