DG John Hall (District 7930) and I start off this morning towards the Zone Institute in Cherry Hill, NJ. The Zone Institue serves Rotary Zones 24 & 32, we are in Zone 32 (shown in blue).

What is a Zone you ask? A Zone is comprised of approximately 15 Rotary districts that form a zone. A zone director (Bryn Styles) who serves as a member of the RI board of directors, heads two zones.

The pair of Zones holds an annual Zone Institute each year for Governors (DG), Governors-elect (DGE), Governors-nominee (DGN) and Past District Governors PDG). District Governors Elect, District Governors Nominee, District Governors, and District Trainers attend special training sessions before the start of the Institute. That session is often called the “Governor-Elect Training Seminar” (GETS) and is conducted by a committee of past district governors (usually present or past R.I. Training Leaders) from the zones. Mukund Nori, our D7980 DGE will be attending the GETS session and Gerry Tom, our D7980 DGN will be attending Leadership Training.

The Zone Institute usually features an array of interesting Rotary Speakers on many Rotary related topics. Here is a link to the agenda for this year.

Between the Leadership Forum and the Zone Institute a person could spend 7+ fun filled days in this Rotary Wonderland but not me. A few days is the right dose of Rotary fun for me. Besides John and I have districts to run and I have to be back for Barbara Moore’s Oklahoma Benefit Dinner in East Hampton this Friday Night.
