A record number of attendees are coming to District Conference / Assembly

Rotary Happens HereBeginning this Friday  D7980 Conference/Assembly attendees will enjoy the company and fellowship of over 425 Rotarians, family members, and young adults from Interact, Rotaract and Youth Exchange in a truly engaging and unique Rotary experience.

This extraordinary experience is made possible by the exceptional partnership between the current district leaders and next year’s leaders, especially DGE Mukund Nori. This is the very first time that Rotary District 7980 has combined the Conference and the Assembly into a single event and from all indications the approach is being very well received.

We kick off our event on Friday morning at Ocean Beach in New London with a Community Service beach project and then move to the main venue at the Mystic Marriott in Groton for a program hosted by the young adults of Youth Service (New Generations). All will enjoy a fun-filled evening on Friday featuring entertainment provided by BritishMania, the internationally acclaimed Beatles tribute band.

Conference program COVER FINALSaturday is all about our D7980 Rotary Clubs with high-energy programs and informative sessions that are designed to inspire all attendees. Lunch on Saturday will be attended by both Conference and Assembly participants who will be treated to the 4-Way Test Speech Contest before heading into the District Assembly. Saturday is also the day that we recognize the many outstanding Rotarians and Rotary Clubs for the good works that they do in their communities and around the world.

The event concludes on Sunday at noon after some very informative programs on The Rotary Foundation, the State of the District and we after conduct an election for the representative of the next Council On Legislation.

I am especially pleased that we were able to bring the District Conference back to Connecticut for the first time in almost 25 years and give so many of our Rotarians the opportunity to attend.

2014 District Assembly is coming May 3rd in Groton Connecticut

DGE Mukund Nori & DG Rick Bassett marry the District Conference and Assembly for the very first time

DGE Mukund Nori & DG Rick Bassett marry the District Conference and Assembly for the very first time

For the very first time D7980 has married the District Conference with the District Assembly; a feat rarely equalled since Chocolate and Peanut Butter found their way  together into Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

DGE Mukund Nori will host the District Assembly right in the center of the District Conference on Saturday May 3rd. The Assembly itself will be loaded with features such as: The Four-way Test Contest, the Foundation Grants Certification Seminar, Team Building, Project Presentations by our Clubs and an abundance of yellow rubber ducks. We believe that our partnership will bring in over 300 attendees for the District Assembly luncheon.

By combining the District Assembly with the District Conference and holding it right in our district, we are giving attendees the opportunity to attend a District Conference (or just part of it) at a very low cost.

This is the event that people will be talking about for years to come. If you missed out on Woodstock then this is your chance to attend something equally historic.

Council of Presidents is Thursday Oct 3rd in Stratford, CT

2013-14 Rotary D7980 Club Presidents

2013-14 Rotary D7980 Club Presidents

Rotary District D7980 will hold it’s Annual Council of Presidents (CoP) this Thursday evening at The Oronoque Country Club @ 385 Oronoque Ln  Stratford, CT,  this event will run from 5:30pm – 8:30pm.

This event is designed for current Club Presidents to learn and share ‘best practices’ while networking with other Presidents and District Leaders.

We have arranged to have Brad Howard, RI’s expert on Membership, as a featured speaker this evening. PDG Brad has been all over the world studying and speaking on the membership challenges that Rotary Clubs face. Besides being a very engaging speaker, Brad is the principal architect of Rotary’s North American Membership plan.

We will run facilitated discussions on fundraising and the way that the District recognizes clubs for their significant achievements (as this entire approach is being revamped).

It is critically important for all clubs to be represented at the The Council of Presidents event.

The List of Registered Attendees can be viewed by clicking here

We are requesting that clubs send their Immediate Past President if the Current President isn’t available.
