Wallingford Rotary runs successful Wine Event at Gouveia Vineyards

The Wallingford Rotary Club hosted their annual Autumn Wine event last night at Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford Connecticut to a full room. Attendees were treated to a glass of wine and hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, a raffle and a great time.

Hamden Rotarians Cathy Forsberg and Mike Lipman came out to support the Wallingford Rotary Club. It was nice spending time with them.

Proceeds of this event directly benefit the Rotary/Liberty Bank Foundation Thanksgiving Drive.

Last year, the Wallingford Rotary/Liberty Bank Foundation Thanksgiving Drive raised $11,500 which was distributed to nine agencies in Wallingford for Thanksgiving food. The Liberty Bank Foundation has committed 25 cents for every dollar raised up to a maximum of $30,000 which will be divided among all the Rotary Clubs in their footprint participating in this project.

Wallingford Rotary….dong good and while having fun!!!

West Haven Rotary Serves Up their 13th Annual Taste of West Haven last night

The West Haven Rotary Club held their 13th annual ‘Taste of West Haven’ event at the Westwood’s Italian American Club last night.  The event was well attended and very well organized.

Event attendees were treated to an abundance of good food and deserts from the best restaurants in West Haven as well as beer and wine tasting that was arranged for by Ye Old Liquor Shoppe.

Fun and fellowship spontaneously breaks out when you put a bunch of West Haven Rotarians in a room with food and drink. Jennifer and I look forward to attending this ‘Taste’ event each year.

Gerry Tom wins Car in Colchester Rotary Raffle tonight

The Colchester Rotary Club concluded their raffle tonight by drawing the lucky winners.

The Grand Prize winner was Geraldine “Gerry” Tom (AG/DGN/Cat Woman/New London Rotarian) who’s ticket was pulled for the 2013 Dodge Avenger SXT. This win is no doubt a result of Gerry’s Good Karma; she is kind to animals, campers (small children), all that she comes in contact with and she is very generous with her time and resources.

The Colchester Rotarians have been working very hard on this major fundraiser for many months and sold just about 1,750 raffle tickets making this event a resounding success.

President Holly Potvin was extremely pleased with the results of the fundraiser and equally pleased that her husband Wayne Potvin can now get back his regular life after living the raffle for the past several months.

Tonight was extra special as Part President Cathy Pompei was awarded a Paul Harris Recognition for her outstanding work in the Club.

Congratulations to the Colchester Rotary for working so hard on this, to Wayne Potvin for never giving up on it and to my good friend Gerry Tom on her new car. All in all, a very good night for some amazing people!!!

Beacon Falls Rotary terrifies everyone at their Haunted Hayride

The Beacon Falls Rotary Club scared hundreds of men, women and children this weekend during their 2nd Annual Haunted Hayride.

The Club pulled out all of the stops  with this spooktacular event that featured a terrifying ride through the Haunted Forest followed by ear piercing screaming, a collection of smelling salts and various refreshments.

Pulling off a frightening event of this scale required the collective evil genius of; The Rotary Club of Beacon Falls, Cub-scout Pack 2010, Beacon Falls Park & Rec, the WRHS Interact Club and the Connecticut Soul Seekers.

The Club and their community partners did a fabulous job on this fun(d)raiser. President Joe vows that the 3rd Annual event will be even bigger and bloodier.
