The Bridgeport Rotary Club held their annual Wine Tasting event at the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport Connecticut last Wednesday. It was a perfect evening for the 200 +/- attendees that featured great wines, a nice assortment of food and deserts as well as a silent auction with some interesting items.
It’s been a pretty good week for the Danbury Rotary Club as they added a new member and Danbury Rotarian Ralph Welsh won 2nd place in the Zone 24/32 Photo Contest.
Emilio Collar Jr., Assistant Dean of WCSU’s School of Business, was inducted into the Danbury Rotary Club this week in front of an enthusiastic crowd of Rotarians.
Ralph Welsh’s photo of area Rotarians marching in the Newtown Labor Day Parade won 2nd place in the Zone 24/32 Photo Contest. The photo depicts a group of Newtown Rotarians thanking members of area clubs for participating in the Newtown Memorial Day Parade which was dedicated to those lives lost in the tragic Newtown murders.This terrible event will affect the community of Newtown for generations.
Congratulations to Emilio, Ralph and the entire Danbury Rotary Club on having such a banner week.
The Milford Rotary Club had about 200 attendees turn out on March 22nd for the Club’s 5th annal Blues Brews and BBQ event. This event featured a tasty Down-Home Slow Cooked BBQ meal prepared by Shoreline Chef Larry Landsberg and Milford Rotarians, music by Jay Rowe and Friends, a silent auction, a live auction and dancing.
This is the 5th, and rumored to be the final time, that the Club will run this event. Over the past 5 years this event has netted the Club tens of thousands of dollars and added considerably to everyone’s waistlines and enjoyment.
This event is a big undertaking for a Club that already does 2 monster fundraisers each year; The Lobster Bake and The Milford Oyster Festival. Perhaps lobbying incoming President Eric Tashlein, along with promising 300 attendees can help keep Blues Brews & BBQ alive another year.
Just when you think the Woodbridge Rotary Club has hit a comfortable cruising groove, they kick it up a few notches. The Club ran a ‘major league’ Wine Tasting event this Thursday evening at the Woodbridge Club in Woodbridge Connecticut. The 200+ attendees enjoyed great homemake wines from area competing winemakers, fabulous food from area restaurants and deli’s, music and a large silent auction with a nice diversity of top notch items.
The event was attended and supported by Rotarians from Orange Rotary, Blackrock Rotary, North Haven Rotary, New Haven Rotary as well as from members of the Greater New Haven Rotaract Club.
The Woodbridge Club members did a tremendous job of planning and executing this first class event and have a lot to be proud of.
This is a Rotary Club that anyone could easily identify as vibrant. Just a few years ago this Club was virtually on life support with dwindling membership, poor attendance at meetings and finding it difficult to do meaningful service projects and fundraisers. All that has changed as the membership has been steadily growing with younger, dedicated, caring, engaged and fun Rotarians; which has made all of the difference.
The Cheshire Rotary Club poured it on for a large scale pancake breakfast this past Sunday morning as they drew hundreds of people from their town and the surrounding communities. The Club enlisted the help of a number of numerous nonprofits in Town by offering them a revenue split which allowed the Club to sell far more tickets than they usually do.
This was a top notch event and no crêpy affair as all members of the Cheshire Rotary battered down to serve their hungry patrons.
Besides a great breakfast and friendly Rotarians this event featured a silent auction, Girl Scout Cookies galore, Children’s entertainment as well as an appearance by everyone’s favourite Area 9 Assistant Governor Tari Marshall-Day with her son Lex.
The Deep River Rotary Club held their annual Antiques Auction this past Saturday evening at the First Congregational Church in Deep River. The weather was perfect and the crowds were big; there were over 125 registered bidders including Rotarians from The Madison Rotary Club and The Chester Rotary Club.
The event featured amazing pieces at great prices – Wicker, Outdoor Furniture, Good Antique Furniture, Rugs, Lamps and (1) Nascar Racing Hood. Food and Drinks were provided by the Whistle Stop.
