The Deep River Rotary Club drops the hammer in Antiques Auction

The Deep River Rotary Club held their annual Antiques Auction this past Saturday evening at the First Congregational Church in Deep River. The weather was perfect and the crowds were big; there were over 125 registered bidders including Rotarians from The Madison Rotary Club and The Chester Rotary Club.

The event featured amazing pieces at great prices – Wicker, Outdoor Furniture, Good Antique Furniture, Rugs, Lamps and (1) Nascar Racing Hood. Food and Drinks were provided by the Whistle Stop.

The Deep River Rotary Club celebrates Valentines Day in Grand Style

We joined our friends from the Deep River Rotary Club to celebrate Valentines Day with decedent hors d’ouvres, chilled champagne with strawberries, and yes..lots of Chocolate! This special night took place in one of the shoreline’s beautiful historic homes in Old Lyme.

Congratulations to Deep River Rotary on their Oktoberfest Celebration

The Deep River Rotary Club knows how to throw a successful fun fundraiser.  Last night they ran their 2nd Annual Oktoberfest Celebration event in the Deep River Town Hall to a standing room only crowd.

Authentic German food and cake was generously served along with a seemingly endless stream of beer and wine. There were abundant raffles, a robust silent auction, a great deal of music and a German cake eating contest.

All attendees seemed super happy with the stellar job the Deep River Rotarians on this event. Besides being very well attended by the community; Rotarians came out from the Chester Rotary Club, the Essex Rotary Club (and technically the North Haven Rotary Club) to support this successful event.

President Lorianne Panzara-Griswold commented to me that the Deep River Rotary Club is a small but mighty Club and she is absolutely right as it is extremely difficult for small clubs to pull off events like this one but these Rotarians made it look as simple as child’s play.

Rotary fun(draisers) this weekend in our great little State….

We have many fantastic Rotary Club Fun(raisers) coming up in our great little State of Connecticut this weekend. Indoors or outdoors; whatever your pleasure there is something for everyone.

You can start the weekend with BBQ and Cigars, enjoy plenty of great Beer and Food at a pair of Ocktoberfests and conclude with fabulous homemade wine, international cuisine and flowers. No reason to cook this weekend!!!!

The Fall is a perfect time to enjoy all of the special events that many of our clubs are putting on this weekend.  Jennifer and/or I will do our best to make most of these events this weekend and we encourage all District 7980 Rotarians to come out to support these clubs and have a little fun along the way.

If I missed a club event then send it on over and I will update this post.

Official Visit #1 – Deep River Rotary Club

I had the pleasure of meeting with the board, officers and club members of the Deep River Rotary Club today during my first official visit as a District Governor.

The friendly members of this club work hard and care very much about the success of the club. The Deep River Rotary club has been in town since 1950 and have a mix of members that live in town as well as many that live outside of Deep River but all care very much about the community.

The club is very active in projects and fundraisers to support their projects.

Upcoming fundraisers include:

The Deep River Rotary Club meets lunchtime on Tuesdays at the Ivory Restaurant, 1 Kirkland Street in Deep River. It is a nice facility, a good meal with exceptional Rotarians.

Be sure to stop by and visit them for lunch on Tuesdays and then stop by the Town Hall to see the Elephant in person.
