Comedy night at the Groton Rotary Club

The Groton Rotary Club knows how to have fun while doing good. Last night they held a comedy night event at Par 4 Restaurant in Groton, CT that was attended by over 60 people and raised several thousand dollars for the projects they care deeply about.

The event featured 4 Comedians, an Emcee, an open buffet, a raffle and just enough liquid courage to get the crowd primed up for a good time. The nice thing about this fundraiser is that it was attended by a nice mix of Rotarians and NonRotarians (they would be everyone else).

The Club did an excellent job with this event, 1/2 the fun was watching Miss Kitty (Gerry Tom) laughing so hard. Put this one your Rotary Bucket List for next year as this one isn’t too be  missed.

1st Orange Rotary Turkey Trot is a blistering sellout

Runners turned out in big numbers for the 1st Annual Orange Rotary Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Orange Rotary President Carl Russell called the event a sellout with 340 registrants  just before the race kicked off.

Temperatures were hovering in the mid 20’s when registration opened up at 6:30 and eventually climbed to a balmy 28 degrees by race time at 8 AM when the runners took off.

It was a quick and colorful field of runners who were no doubt motivated by the climate.

Congratulations to President Carl, all of the Orange Rotarians, the volunteers and all of the participants for ‘running’ such a successful event.

The Ansonia Rotary Club serves up a good time

The Ansonia Rotary Club ran their 2nd Annual Wine and Beer Tasting Event at Villa Bianca in Seymour this afternoon. Being inside drinking wine and beer, eating good food and having nice conversations with great friends is always preferable to being outside on a cold rainy day.

The Club put together a very nice event which featured a Silent Auction with an abundance of desirable prizes and a wide variety of wines to sample which were provided by Valley Discount Liquor in Ansonia.

The event was put on as a partnership between The Housatonic Council BSA and the Ansonia Rotary Club.
