Montville Rotary Trivia Night – A fun fundraiser

The Montville Rotary Club turned out a full room at the VFW of nearly 300 players for their 2nd Trivia night this Rotary year. The members of the Montville Club did a great job keeping this fun event moving at a fast pace while having multiple activities happening at the same time in addition to the main event  such as; table decorating contest, 50/50, basket raffle, a cash bar and pizza delivery was even available.

The Trivia questions were challenging and engaging, it’s a good thing that we had Evan Evans at our table.

AG Gretchen Marvin led the Colchester Rotary Crew to the event and kindly invited Jennifer and me to join them. I am seeing a pattern starting to emerge with the Colchester Cub in that they do tend to be a club that is willing to travel to other Rotary events for a good party. I’ve been at 3 such joint events with them this year and know they’ve gone to at least 1 more. Good for them for being so supportive.

Rotary fun(draisers) this weekend in our great little State….

We have many fantastic Rotary Club Fun(raisers) coming up in our great little State of Connecticut this weekend. Indoors or outdoors; whatever your pleasure there is something for everyone.

You can start the weekend with BBQ and Cigars, enjoy plenty of great Beer and Food at a pair of Ocktoberfests and conclude with fabulous homemade wine, international cuisine and flowers. No reason to cook this weekend!!!!

The Fall is a perfect time to enjoy all of the special events that many of our clubs are putting on this weekend.  Jennifer and/or I will do our best to make most of these events this weekend and we encourage all District 7980 Rotarians to come out to support these clubs and have a little fun along the way.

If I missed a club event then send it on over and I will update this post.

Official Visit #17 – Montville Connecticut Rotary Club

The Montville Rotary Club is made up of early risers and so far they are the only sunrise club that has agreed to have their board meeting with me before their meeting, which means that we started at 6:30 AM today.

For a club of just 14 members, the Montville Rotary Club does many great things in their community including:

  • Supporting the homeless shelter
  • Supporting Oklahoma Relief efforts
  • Distributing dictionaries to 3rd graders
  • Awarding (3) $1,000 scholarships to assist deserving students (residents of Montville, Connecticut) in continuing their education beyond secondary school.
  • Thanksgiving Food baskets
  • Honoring the Teacher of the Year
  • Adopting a family for Christmas
  • Participating and supporting the Relay for Life
  • Recently recognizing several Montville Businesses for their quick response and support for the Montville Cares Breast Cancer Tee Shirt.  Montville Cares is a Breast Cancer Awareness program that was started by three boys at Tyl Middle School who have had close family members affected by Breast Cancer.

to name a few ..

The club raises funds in some interesting ways including:

  • The Montville Rotary Club co-sponsors the annual Montville Master’s Race, a 6.2 mile running competition for people 40 and older.
  • Give back dinners done in partnership with the local Chili’s Restaurant
  • Fall Trivia Night

Despite the small number of members, the club is very organized and focused. They are especially focused on bringing in quality new members. Both Immediate Past President Nate Servidio and President Kim Navetta are committed to growing the membership.

The Montville Club usually has some interesting club programs and speakers, save today, which can be viewed on their very active Facebook page.

The club meets on Tuesdays mornings from 7 AM – 8 AM at the Hyatt Place in Uncasville, it is a beautiful facility in the shadows of the casino. They enjoy a nice breakfast for only $5 and the only thing missing is you!!! Stop on in and say hello.

Montville Rotary Club Supports Oklahoma Relief

Dozens of Rotarians, family members and friends gathered at the Chili’s in Montville last night for dinner in support of our Oklahoma Relief efforts. Chili’s  was kind enough to donate a percentage of all proceeds to this very important cause. Last night’s event was organized by President Kim Navetta  through the generosity and support of Past President Nathan Servidio (Chili’s Manager). Since Chili’s Oklahoma donation was good for the entire day yesterday, the club actively sent many patrons to the restaurant all day long.

Congratulations to the entire Montville Rotary Club for supporting the Oklahoma Relief Effort.
